Apartment scheme lined up for Birminghams Gun Quarter
Plan have been unveiled for 250 new flats on a run-down plot in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter.The proposal would involve an eight-storey building being constructed if planning permission is granted.The application by Xian Developments, which relates to land at the corner of Loveday Street and Summer Lane, also includes the demolition of the buildings on the site which is being used as a car park.The documents include provision for the building to be between six and eight storeys, include between 200 and 250 apartments and 5,380 sq ft of commercial space for shops, offices, cafés or other businesses.If approved by Birmingham City Council, there will also be 21 parking spaces and room for 252 bikes while the flats will range from one to three bedrooms and there will be a roof garden.The plan is the latest PRS (private rented sector) scheme for the city. They are normally owned and maintained by one landlord.Xian Developments is led by Birmingham-based property developer Simon Linford.In 2008, permission was granted for 311 student flats but they were not constructed.
